The article mentions that Anthropic introduced MCP.Is MCP exclusive to Anthropic's models (Claude), or can it be used with other AI models like OpenAI's GPT-4 or open-source models (Llama) right now?
Part 2 covers this tho.
If I am understanding your question, can LLMs like GPT-x or Gemini be used as MCP hosts? Yes, MCP is not exclusive to Anthropic or Claude. MCP is an open protocol, so any model or platform can implement it as long as they follow the specification. Claude adopted it first, but the protocol itself is model agnostic.
You can build an MCP host around GPT, Gemini, Llama, or any other model. You can also create MCP servers that connect to external tools, databases, APIs, or custom scripts. As long as the host speaks the protocol correctly, the model can interact with MCP tools.
Think about it the same way HTTP works. The fact that Tim Berners-Lee and his team created HTTP does not mean only their browsers or servers can use it. Once a protocol is open, any company, tool, model, or developer can adopt it as long as they follow the specification. That is exactly what is happening with MCP.
It was initially designed for Claude models but it got open-sourced and got adopted by various Ai models
Yea, Exactly Mark.
Was designed initially for Claude models
