liner notes:
Professional : Today did not go the way I thought it would. My goal was to get this AI Agent set up so that I could add the stuff I've been looking to build. After some research last week when my manager and I decided to move forward with my idea, I picked one of the different options that were available. It offered one way that was supposed to be just a click to deploy from the sample application's GitHub repo. In my mind, I was like this is great because what I'm working on doesn't really depend on what the AI Agent is or where it's deployed. It's supposed to work across the board from what I've seen from what I've read. I get up, create an account with the service and go to the GitHub repo with the application. I click the button and it goes through a bunch of steps automatically and gets deployed. Awesome, but it didn't work. The application showed up, but the agent wouldn't respond to my messages. I also noticed that were a couple of more deployments that I didn't make and they failed. I was looking through the logs and it was looking for some directory that didn't exist. No clue. So, I tried the other way that runs and sets everything up locally on my laptop. There were more steps but I was able to go through them. I had a bunch of random errors that Google Gemini and I had to try and figure out. One issue was that the versions of some libraries that the sample application were outdated. Once I updated them, ran into another issue where the API Key from another service that they recommended was paid for and didn't have a free tier. There were instructions on using other LLM models, but even when I switched over and commented out the API Key, there was a large banner saying that the API Key needed to be set. haha After a while of having the same random error, I decided to see if I deploy the application, will it run. Maybe there was something with my local machine. Got it deployed and it worked.... kind of... the chat bot wouldn't do tasks that it said it could, like set a timer and doing something. And it would keep gaslighting me that it was sorry and that it would do the task and then not do the task. Since it was kind of working, I created a repo and pushed the code to a repo in my GitHub account and linked it to the service. I thought maybe the issue was the LLM that I selected wasn't "smart" enough to use the tools. I changed the model by editing the code in my repo and when I merged it, it would deploy to the service. I noticed the builds were failing when I pushed from the repo. I looked at the logs and it said that the post install command was causing an issue because it was supposed to be patching another library, but it looks like that library was updated and didn't need to be patched anymore. I fixed that and things started to build successfully again, but the chat agent seemed to get worse because it didn't even reply to messages now and when it did, it recap how the "other" agent wasn't working and doing what was asked of it?! I threw in the towel at that point. I'll figure it out tomorrow.
Personal : For some reason, I woke up at like 3am and couldn't go back to sleep. My mind kept working out details for different projects I'm working on. For example, I think I figured out how to rework some models to make them easier to assemble than the prototypes I created. Yeah, if I knew my day would have ended up as it did, I would have slept in today. haha.
My brain is tired. I'm still thinking about what I was working on today for work. I think I may try to spin up another sample application from another provider tonight. This could be closer to where I wanted to be ultimately, but part of it is using Python. We'll see. Oh, I printed a model I made before with some filament I purchased. One of them is glow in the dark. Tomorrow, I'm going to run some jobs so that I have items to give to my coworkers when I see them next week. Also got the notification that the 7" test pressings are coming in a couple of days. Hoping that the 12" records come around the same time so that I can send them to a person that I want to hear the records and get their approval on them as well. Going to order some mailing supplies. I'm going to work on some models with the changes I thought up this morning. I also want to go through tracks for the radio show.
Have a great night!
peace piece
