How to Set Up and Use DiskCleanKit Widgets on Your Mac

DiskCleanKit widgets let you monitor your Mac’s storage and system health without opening the full app.
They’re perfect for:

  • Quick glances at available storage
  • Real-time monitoring of RAM and CPU
  • One-click access to cleaning functions

Adding Desktop Widgets

Step 1: Access Widget Gallery

  1. Right-click on any empty space on your desktop.
  2. Select Edit Widgets from the context menu.
  3. Or click the date/time in your menu bar and select Edit Widgets.

You’ll now see the Widget Gallery window open.

Step 2: Find DiskCleanKit Widgets

  • In the widget gallery, search for “DiskCleanKit”.
  • You’ll see several widget options available in different sizes. Small, Medium, Large Widget sizes

Step 3: Choose Your Widget Size

Small Widget

  • Shows free and used storage percentage
  • Minimal footprint on your desktop

Medium Widget

  • Displays storage breakdown with a visual chart
  • Shows RAM usage

Large Widget

Step 4: Add to Desktop

  1. Drag your chosen widget to your desktop.
  2. Position it where you want.
  3. Click Done when finished.

You’ll see the DiskCleanKit icon appear in your menu bar immediately.

If you want to hide it, go to Menu → Hide Menu Bar Widget.

Using Widget Actions

One Touch Clean from Widget

  1. Click the Clean button on your widget.

  • Click the disk icon on medium or large widgets.
  • The Disk Manager opens directly, allowing you to manage all drives efficiently.

Troubleshooting

Widget Not Updating

  • Make sure you have the latest version of DiskCleanKit.
  • Ensure you’re running macOS 13 or later.
  • Restart your Mac if needed.
